Modis…a real surprise where the old Horseshoe used to be. A new upscale restaurant by none other than burger and fries man Eric Mamula. With a very diverse menu of appetizers that include a grilled artichoke, butternut squash ravioli (one of my favorites with a salad as a light dinner), carpacio, great soup specials, and an excellent sesame seared Ahi tuna plate. Under salads they have one called the Modis Big Salad, that I often get for dinner. Main courses from fresh fish such as grilled salmon or pan fried Halibut, to braised short ribs or several steaks, there really is something for everyone. I don’t thinks it’s a kids restaurant….send them to Eric’s down under with a pocketful of quarters for all the machines. When I say fine dining I don’t mean dinner near $50PP, but closer to $35. It’s a real delight, and the bar is a locals favorite, so you may have to fight your way in. A terrific alternative to Breckenridge’s dining scene.
