Aspen-based real-estate firm Joshua & Co. on Monday announced the sale of a $43 million estate in Aspen, the largest single-family residence sale in the United States this year.

The 25,000-square-foot mansion, which sits on 4.5 acres, has 11 bedrooms, including the guest house. There are 15 bathrooms, a gym, four powder rooms, a wine cellar and a pool.

Joshua & Co. founder Joshua Saslove and broker associate Newton Bartley, who both handled the sale, described the deal as significant.

"It says a lot about the faith and confidence that people who can make those (financial) choices have chosen to move to Aspen," Saslove said.

Bartley said the interest in properties in Pitkin County has just begun to climb.

"We've quadrupled our showings in the last six weeks," he said. "It's been busy, which is a good thing, because it had not been for a long time."
